I have been reworking this for about a week. It has come a long way, so while it is incomplete, the image above shows a great middle-stage regarding the development. With much clean-up still needed, many elements are working while being a bit murky compared to Disco Dancin. . .so much will have to be simplified and toned down a bit. Composition-wise, I am happy. I revised the background from the original Bus Girl sketch to be horizontal and on the el. Much better.
The challenge with this piece is that I wanted to combine my marker work with photography and vector art in a way that I had always envisioned but avoided, thinking it was impractical. Viewing it now, I cannot say that I dislike it. My goal is to allow a seamlessness between elements and this piece is not there yet. One surprise, that I really do like, is how the vector gradations compliment the marker work in the girls face. Kool.
